Upon being released from a state prison on Friday, an Upper Fairfield Township man was immediately taken into custody on a state police warrant charging him with allegedly selling three stolen handguns to get heroin for a friend.
Clinton James "CJ" Taylor, 31, of 3964 Mountain Road, was arraigned on nine felony charges, including three counts each of receiving stolen property, convicted felon not to possess a firearm and carrying a firearm without a license.
Police allege Taylor served as the middle man for Joseph Ault, who has admitted to stealing three handguns in two burglaries last year.
Ault stole two handguns from Brian Weidler's home on Wallis Run Road in Cascade Township in late April 2011, police said. He also stole a gun in a burglary at Sharon Stork's home on Brushy Road in Fairfield Township in early June 2011, police said. Ault gave the guns to Taylor, who sold them for two "bundles of heroin," which he handed over to Ault, along with $200, police alleged in court papers. Ault has already been arrested for his involvement in the burglaries.
Taylor, convicted in 2001 of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and convicted in 2009 of burglary, was arraigned before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
