We can’t handle it

October 7, 2012

We can't handle the truth!

On the TV news and over the Internet, Mitt Romney was secretly recorded by former President Carter's grandson. Romney spoke on what he believed to be the truth about Americans and our government. When a politician speaks the truth, we Americans do not want to hear him or her. Why?

At a May 17th fundraiser in Boca Raton, Fla., Romney was heard saying, "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it."

Many people keep saying that the politicians lie and say what they think we want to hear. Along comes someone who has been in business, as well as a governor, and speaks what he believes the government is doing. In a sense making many Americans lazy. The truth is most of the citizens of this nation believe we have become just that, lazy and expecting the government to take care of us.

Romney may not have chosen the correct words to describe who and possibly why so many will vote for Obama and think he is special, but isn't our president saying what most want to hear? Do these same 47 percent of voters, who will surely vote for Obama, know where the government gets the money to dole out?

Not long ago I spoke with a young woman who goes to a local University about a student loan she received. When I mentioned that the government loan was actually from the taxpayer, she shook her head no. She was under the assumption her money came from the government only.

It makes me wonder if she, and those who receive funds from the government would be so generous if they had to pay others with their own money? How about you?
