Jean B. Paternostro

Jean B. (Burkholder) Paternostro, 90, of Williamsport, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at The Williamsport Home.

She was born May 31, 1922, in Williamsport, and was the daughter of the late John A. and Ruby (Hanner) Burkholder. Jean was a 1940 graduate of the Williamsport High School.

She was married to the late Joseph G. Paternostro Jr., on July 23, 1945, in which they celebrated 56 years of marriage until his death on Nov. 5, 2001.

Jean was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Catholic Church, Williamsport. She was an active member of the PTA while her children were in school. She enjoyed volunteering at church functions and she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas M. "Tom" and Jule Paternostro, of South Williamsport, and Timothy F. "Tim" Paternostro, of Linden; one daughter and son-n-law, Kathryn J. and Joseph Jessick of Ellysburg; five grandchildren, Michael Paternostro, Kelly Jessick, Andy Paternostro, Kathy Paternostro and Jason Paternostro; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth "Beth," Autumn, McKenzie "Kenzie," Taylor, and Domenico; one brother and sister-in-law, John A. and Ruth Burkholder Jr., of Williamsport; two nieces and two nephews.

A public viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Annunciation Catholic Church, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with the Reverend David Bechtel as celebrant. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Mount Carmel section.

In lieu of flowers, one can donate to Susquehanna Home Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
