An agreement with the Montour County Prison to house inmates from Lycoming County will be reviewed by Lycoming County commissioners Thursday at their meeting.
Kevin DeParlos, warden at the Lycoming County Prison, said Montour County would charge $60 a day to house inmates there.
No inmates presently are incarcerated there, he said.
DeParlos said at an August commissioners' meeting that the local prison is experiencing overcrowding issues and has been forced to place inmates in Tioga, Centre and Clinton county prisons.
Commissioners also will review bids for emergency communications tower improvements on Bald Eagle Mountain and Shrivers Ridge sites. Commissioners gave approval last week to seek rights of ways for those locations to install underground utilities.
Change orders in the amount of $51,200 for a water line project at the landfill will be reviewed by commissioners. Kurt Hausammann, county Department of Planning and Community Development director, said the project brings a supply of water from the Montgomery Water and Sewer Authority to the landfill to be used in case of a fire emergency.
That agency will reimburse $35,000 worth of the change order, Hausammann said.
Commissioners also will review an agreement that allows 13 county constables to use a county police frequency. Constables will undergo training and spend time observing emergency dispatchers as part of the agreement, according to John Yingling, county Department of Public Safety director.
