George P. Rolley

George P. Rolley, 89, of Montoursville, died peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, 2012.

George was born in Karthus, Pa., on May 10, 1923, the son of Louis and Clara Demonge Rolley. He was married to the former Beryl L. Johns, who passed away March 2006, after celebrating 59 years of marriage.

George was a graduate of Lock Haven University, earned a master's degree from Bucknell University and was a teacher for the Williamsport Area School District, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Montoursville School Board, Montoursville Kiwanis, the American Legion, V.F.W and Knights of Columbus Council No. 366. He was the recipient of the St. George Emblem, presented by the Boy Scouts of America. George coached Montoursville Little League, was a Sunday school teacher and volunteer at Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was the supervisor at the YWCA dances and enjoyed many years as the Youth Summer Program Director. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He was a World War II Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his children, Georgette (Craig) Miller of South Williamsport, Susan Smith of Montoursville, David (Linda) Rolley of Montoursville and Doug (Jennifer) Rolley of Salt Lake City, Utah. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jaime, Kevin, Josh, Brian (Laree), Eric, Marissa, Tanner, Skye, Benjamin and a great-grand- daughter, Sydney and his beloved dog, Rex.

George was preceded in death by his siblings, Julia, Charlotte, Ina, Vincent and William.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry St., Montoursville. His pastor the Rev. John Manno will officiate. Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery Montoursville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
