A gunman robbed a clerk of an undisclosed amount of cash at the cigarette and check-cashing business Cigarette Outlet at 1930 Lycoming Creek Road about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Old Lycoming Township police.
"The man entered the store, displayed a handgun and ordered the clerk to put money in a bag," Sgt. Detective Christopher Kriner said.
The clerk was not injured, he added.
This was the second armed robbery in the area in four days.
The gunman was described as white, believed to be between 45-55 years old, wearing all black clothing and eyeglasses, Kriner said.
The man was at least 5 feet, 9 inches tall, heavy set, probably more than 200 pounds, and had a beard and mustache, he added.
The bandit ran out the front door and was last seen heading to the back of the business toward the Weis Market parking lot, police said. It is unknown if a getaway vehicle was used.
Officers from DuBoistown, Pennsylvania College of Technology and state police assisted with the investigation.
Investigators do not know if this holdup was related to Sunday night's robbery at the Nittany Minit Mart, 1450 E. Third St. The gunman in that case also remains at large. He, too, was described as white, taller than 5 feet, 7 inches, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
In that 8 p.m. robbery, the bandit was last seen bolting to the back of the Loyalsock Township business.
