Being a college student means that it is very important to take advantage of extracurricular activities to better our future.
I am a junior at Mansfield University studying mass communication with an emphasis in broadcast and journalism.
An opportunity was recently presented to me to attend the 2012 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Collegiate Media Summit at Bloomsburg University.

Kelsey Kaufmann, a junior at Mansfield University, recently attended the 2012 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Collegiate Media Summit from Sept. 22 to 23 at Bloomsburg University.
She is shown with students McKenzi David, Adam Hower and a Bloomsburg professor.
The event took place Sept. 22 and 23.
At the conference there were many speakers that discussed different topics such as journalism, broadcast, public relations and more.
What was most important to me was being able to meet many successful individuals that are so knowledgeable in their field.
Some of the people that spoke were still students in college but had done many great things.
Some of the students had traveled to Los Angeles for internships or worked at WWE's magazine.
Listening to these students speak about their hard work encouraged me to do more for my future.
I found the conference to be a great way to network and learn more about the field that I am interested in.
I know that even though I will have to work very hard to reach my goals, there are students that are working on the same dreams as me.
Kaufmann is a junior at Mansfield University. She is a student in Dan Mason's Crisis News Analysis class.
