Common Wealth

October 14, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Rock Run, Little Bear Creek, Old Loggers Path, Pine Creek, Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, Slate Run, Cedar Run, Kettle Creek, Young Women's Creek, Loyalsock Trail.

What do you treasure about these magnificent places? Hiking, kayaking, bird watching, hunting, camping, picnicking, biking, swimming?

What do these Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's public lands have in common? They are all threatened to be destroyed by natural gas drilling. Some have been, or are in the process of being, seismic tested, others have yet to be leased. Governor Corbett has the power to lease any state forest land he wants, just by lifting the existing state moratorium on additional offers for bids.

Are you disgusted about what is happening around us? Do you feel powerless to stop it? Don't! Instead, get on the phone and call anyone you can and tell them how you feel. Governor Corbett, DEP Secretary Krancer, DCNR Secretary Allen, your Senators and Representatives. Write letters to your local newspaper.

Only the concerned citizens of Pennsylvania can stop this train wreck
