Dorothy Mae ‘Dottie’ Van Schoick

Dorothy Mae "Dottie" Van Schoick, 89, of Jersey Shore passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Jersey Shore Hospital.

She was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Spring Lake, N.J., the daughter of Charles and Ida Mae Havens.

Dottie was married to Rev. Theodore "Ted" Van Schoick with whom she shared 35 years of marriage.

She was a member of the Calvary Church of Nazarene in Williamsport.

Dottie is survived by her husband; a son, Douglas Marvin Bennett of Avon by the Sea, N.J.; stepsons, Samuel A. Van Schoick of Howell, N.J., Barak Van Schoick of Aptos, Calif., John Francis Van Schoick of Merritt Island, Fla. and Stephen Van Schoick of Interlachen, Fla.; stepdaughters, Teddi Jean Fix of Lakeland, Fla., Jennifer Owens of Interlachen, Fla.; also a niece, Janet Seigfried of Point Pleasant, N.J. and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Marvin Bennett; a daughter, Kathleen Speitel and a brother, Curtis Havens.

Family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Calvary Church of Nazarene, 3200 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Relatives and friends are invited to Dorothy's Life Celebration, 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. A visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent, New Jersey at the family's convenience.
