State police locate fugitive

TOWANDA - State police here have located and jailed Jonathan Coleman Butler, 34, of the borough. According to police, Butler was wanted for aggravated assault and fleeing and eluding police for allegedly threatening officers with a canister containing anhydrous ammonia - a substance allegedly used in making methamphetamine - following a traffic stop Sept. 22 and escaping into nearby woods.

Butler was apprehended without incident during a traffic stop on James Street, North Towanda Township, Thursday. He was arraigned before District Judge Wilcox and jailed at Bradford County Prison in lieu of $175,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 17.
