For the third time in six days, a gunman walked into an area business late Friday morning, pointed the weapon at an employee and demanded money before fleeing with cash.
This time is was in the city at the Uni-Mart at 1944 W. Fourth Street, where a clerk and a manager were robbed at gunpoint just before noon, city police confirmed.
The man, wearing all black clothing, demanded cash from the two and then fled with money he had placed in a bag, police said. The bandit was white, medium build, weighing more than 200 pounds and about 6 feet tall, police said.
The robber was seen fleeing east after leaving the store. Police were checking to see if the store's video camera might offer any helpful clues that might lead them to a suspect.
Police believe it is very possible that the same man who committed Friday's holdup perpetrated the one late Wednesday morning in Old Lycoming Township at the Cigarette Outlet at 1930 Lycoming Creek Road.
"The two (robberies) certainly could be related. Both suspects have similar physical characteristics," township Police Chief William Solomon said Friday afternoon.
"We pursuing some leads," he added.
The first holdup of the week occurred at the Nittany Minit Mart, 1450 E. Third St., about 8 p.m. Sunday.
A man, described as white, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, bolted from the business with an undisclosed amount of cash after holding up a female clerk.
No shots were fired and no injuries occurred in any of the robberies.
