Roundup: Wyalusing knocks off North Penn

October 13, 2012
From Staff Reports , Williamsport Sun-Gazette

It was a happy homecoming Friday night for the Wyalusing Rams as they scored their first win of the season with a 27-15 victory over the North Penn Panthers. The Rams took advantage of six Panther turnovers and 70 yards in penalties.

The game started in North Penn's favor, as it took the opening kickoff and quickly marched 65 yards in 6 plays. The drive was keyed by a 26 yard pass from Taylor Hillson to Sam Rotella, and was capped off by an 8 yard scamper into the end zone by Hillson. Rotella added the extra point, and the Panthers were in control 7-0 with only 2:06 gone in the first. When their defense forced a quick 3 and out, it looked like they were well on their way to an easy night. But 2 plays later, they would fumble the ball for their first of 6 crucial turnovers on the night.

Down 15-8, an 0-6 Ram team that could have folded decided toanswer right back. Tim Ace would carry 4 times on the drive for 41 yards, and a 15 yard facemask penalty had Wyalusing knocking on the door, On third and 2 from the North Penn 3, Otis would pick up a crucial first down to the 1. From there, Andrew Picket took it himself for the score.

Bucktail 48, CV?8

When Bucktail hosted Cowanesque Valley last night, early in the first quarter a Bucktail lateral fell into the end-zone where an Indian defender jumped on it for a touchdown, leading to an 8-6 lead for the visitors.

It was the only thing that went wrong for Bucktail.

Defensively the Bucks shut-down Cowanesque Valley and as the offense poured it on, particularly in the second quarter, they cruised to 4-2 on the season.

On just the second offensive play of the game Trent Risley knocked the ball loose while teammate Dalton Louey jumped on it in the end-zone for a 6-0 lead. Trent Risley would also score later on an interception when Colton Risley tipped a Brandon Whistell pass attempt.

Selinsgrove 14, Milton 12

At Milton, Selinsgrove won a battle of the top two teams in District 4 Class AAA as Juvan Batts scored two touchdowns.

Two Kaelen Sullivan extra-points proved to be the difference as Milton failed to convert after either Jarred Fogelman's run or Grant Wargo's reception.

Lewisburg 51,

Warrior Run 0

At Turbotville, Brandon Smith scored three times in the first quarter and Lewisburg beat winless Warrior Run.
