Williamsport attorney Julieanne E. Steinbacher, founding partner of the elder law firm of Steinbacher and Stahl, presented continuing education at the 2012 state Bar Institute conference in Mechanicsburg in early October.
The course, "Veterans Pension and Aid & Attendance Benefits Update and Advanced Planning Strategies," provided an opportunity for attorneys to increase their understanding of VA benefits, the language that is important to include in correctly drafted irrevocable trusts, and advanced planning strategies related to VA benefits and Medicaid planning, according to a news release.
Attorney Steinbacher is on faculty with PBI. She has extensive lecturing and writing experience, and she and her law partner Adrianne J. Stahl, have authored several books, including Pennsylvania Trust Guide, edition I and II and the Pennsylvania Special Needs Planning Guide, the release said. Most recently, Steinbacher and her law partner Stahl were joined by nine other leading elder law attorneys from across the nation to co-author "Protect Your Family! Don't Write a Blank Check to the Nur$ing Home."

Director joins

Larson Design Group, Williamsport, recently announced the hiring of Timothy Kinder, who will serve as regional director of surveying. Kinder joins the firm to open a new office in Morgantown, the first West Virginia office for the 260-person engineering, architecture, and surveying company.
"Morgantown is a vibrant university town, located in one of the fastest growing counties in West Virginia," says Keith Kuzio, PE, LDG President and CEO. "Our new office will let us leverage our professional experience in energy, municipal, civil, and transportation engineering."
Kinder, a professional land surveyor brings exceptional business development, leadership, and management skills to the firm, a news release said. He has 15 years of professional experience and formerly was regional service group manager with Herbert, Rowland & Grubic. Prior to this he was director of surveying with the John P. Caito Corp. and managed his own surveying company. Kinder holds professional registration in West Virginia, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
Kinder will be responsible for obtaining and negotiating contracts for new Marcellus Shale clients, developing and executing business development marketing strategies, project management, coordinating and reviewing plans, well pad design plans, construction plans, road encroachment permits, and well permits applications.
