Irene A. Marek, 75, of 2630 Waldman Dr., Loyalsock Township, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital after a long, hard, and courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 9, 1937, in Scranton, a daughter of Charles and Mary McCarthy Disler.
Irene was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Anthony J. "Tony" Marek; her daughter, Cheryl Marek Hall of Williamsport; sister, Catherine (George) Kutyna of Exeter, Pa.; two grandchildren, Autumn and Christopher Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Chuck and Richard Disler; and by a sister, Audrey Poepperling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road, Williamsport, with the Rev. Paul C. Fontanella as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may made to St. Ann Catholic Church.
