Richard L. Delaney Sr., 72, of 162 Bypass Drive, Jersey Shore, went to be with the Lord Friday morning, Oct. 12, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Born March 25, 1940, in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Vincent Delaney and the former Amby Mitchell.
Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Grace H. Shumac, Aug. 29, 2009. They were united in marriage Aug. 2, 1958, at the Church of Saint Luke in Jersey Shore.
Dick is survived by his wife, the former Ann King. They were united in marriage May 19, 2012. He was retired from the Jersey Shore Steel Co. as a supervisor after 42 years of service.
For many years, he was a member of the Church of Saint Luke, enjoyed spending time at his river lot and earlier in his life volunteered as a little league coach. Dick's greatest love was spending quality time with his loving family.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard L. (Sonja) Delaney Jr. of Jersey Shore and Michael R. (Kristen) Delaney of Montoursville; three grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Brittany; two stepdaughters, Cindy L. Merritt of Bellefonte and Kimberly A. Hall of Deltona, Fla.; two stepsons, Jeffrey A. King of Bellefonte and Randy B. King of Grassflats; stepgrandchildren, Tommy, Carrie A., Ben, Kyle, Chrissie, Danielle, Travis, Hunter, Mekalia, Ashley and Barry; also five stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor Miller of Jersey Shore.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Saint Luke, 120 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore. Father Bert Kozen will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 212 Pine St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
