Today's District 4 semifinals will be an all-local affair as Loyalsock's Pam and Emily Niditch, and Hughesville's Kaylora Thompson and Kelsey McCabe advanced to the semifinals Saturday during the district singles tournament. All four players won their three matches Saturday in straight sets. Pam Niditch faces Thompson, and Emily Niditch faces McCabe today at 2 p.m. at the West Branch Tennis Club.
Bucknell outscored George Washington by three goals in the second quarter and the Bison beat the Colonials, 13-8, in men's water polo. Bucknell avenged a loss to the Colonials three weeks ago by getting four goals from Alex Nowlin. Brian Barron scored three goals for the Bison and added to assists.
Lock Haven rallied for three goals to erase a three-goal deficit, but Temple's Amber Youtz scored her second goal in overtime to give the Owls a 4-3 win over the Bald Eagles in college field hockey. After going down 3-0, Lock Haven's Taylor Kennedy, Nakira Downes and Stephanie Ebersole all scored to tie the game.
St. Thomas Aquinas scored a goal 7 minutes into the second half which proved to be the game-winner in a 3-2 win over Lock Haven in men's soccer. Trent Burris and Bobby Mohr scored for the Bald Eagles in the second half.
