Laurel Health System will hold public flu shot clinics throughout Tioga County during October.
Vaccinations may be purchased for a fee; cash and Medicare Part B are accepted.

Susquehanna Health announces events
Susquehanna Health will hold the following events:
12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday - An AARP Driver Safety refresher course will be offered for individuals who have proof they previously have taken a two-day AARP Driver Safety Program. The course will be held at The LifeCenter in the Bon-Ton/JCPenney wing of Lycoming Mall. A cost applies for AARP members and non-members. Register in advance by calling the Lincoln Senior Center at 323-3096 from 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Pre-payment is required.
6 to 9 p.m. Thursday - Spirit Girls' Night Out. Susquehanna Health's Spirit of Women program will hold Girls' Night Out at the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St. Celebrate the vibrancy of good health at a free educational event. Free health screenings include blood pressure, osteoporosis, posture, hemoglobin A1c (diabetes blood test), cholesterol, stroke, BMI (body mass index) and sleep screen. Kathleen Passanisi, Hall of Fame speaker, author and health humorist will present "Ladies, Life and Laughter: The Role of Humor in Keeping Women Healthy, Happy and Sane." Stabilization training offered
WELLSBORO - Faculty from Geisinger Medical Center's Outreach Education will present a free S.T.A.B.L.E. course to nurses, physicians and ancillary health care staff from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital board room.
S.T.A.B.L.E. addresses the care of sick infants and is intended for use following neonatal resuscitation provided in the delivery room. Topics include making appropriate and timely decisions regarding infant care, post-neonatal resuscitation procedures, and pre-transport stabilization. Participants must have a current textbook.

Raise money for breast cancer research
"Miles of Memories," a 5K/10K Run/Walk breast cancer fundraiser will be held Saturday at Nippenose Valley Elementary School.
Registration starts at 9 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 9:45 and the race at 10. A celebration party will be held afterward.
A discounted registration fee will be charged prior to the day of the race. All proceeds benefit the northeastern affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Breast health is topic of doctor talk
SELINSGROVE - Women of all ages may attend Evangelical Community Hospital's Talk with The Doc series discussion on breast health at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Susquehanna Valley Mall.
The program will be presented by Dr. John Turner, medical director of the Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health.
Turner will discuss how often women should get a mammogram, why annual mammograms starting at 40 should be the standard and why breast care should be a priority for good health. He also will address breast density and how modern screenings can work with different types of breasts, as well as lymph node dissection and removal.
He also will answer questions and concerns following the program.

WELLSBORO - A free Expectant Parents class titled "Labor & Delivery" will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital board room. A tour of the OB unit will be given.
