MUNCY - The Muncy School Board voted 8-1 Monday night to approve a school-sponsored girls and boys junior high spring soccer program at a cost of $2,000 a season.
The program, which will operate under volunteer coaches, will not be a sanctioned Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association sport, however.
Board members approved a similar arrangement for last season, but warned a junior high soccer program may not be economically feasible due to district budget cuts.
William Schneck voted against the proposal.
The board also approved a six-month real estate listing extension with Girio Agency Inc., 521 Market St., Williamsport, to sell the district's administrative offices at the Margaret Waldron Building, 46 S. Main St..
"It's still on the market," said Dr. Portia Brandt, district superintendent. "There is some interest, but the board has not made any formal obligation to sell to anyone at this point."
