When Mitt Romney made the comment at the fundraiser that 47 percent of the American people depend on the government to take care of them for shelter, food, medical care, etc. I was livid!
I am one of the 47 percent that will go out and vote on Election Day and so will many others of the 47 percent and what do you think they will do Romney?
I receive no government help for my shelter; in fact, I have a monthly mortgage payment which helps with the economy. I receive no help to purchase food; again, I am contributing to the economy. And health care he is out of his mind and has no idea what a person goes through to pay health care but I am going to give you an example Romney.
In 2010 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then the tests and such began. I had to go through PET Scans, MRI's, and blood work after blood work, had to go to Hershey for a second opinion and then the treatments began. I had 16 chemo treatments from December 2010 through April 2011. After that I had 33 radiation treatments through May 2011. My husband's employer requires us to pay for part of our health coverage each pay. Plus, to be on the safe side, we put some money into a HSA.
On top of all of this, we have a $6,500.00 yearly deductible, which has to be paid before our health care kicks in at 90 percent and then finally at 100 percent. From the diagnosis in October of 2010, through the treatments in May 2011, we paid out of our pocket $13,000 and the government did not kick in. So, if us 47 percent are "dependent" on the government for our livelihood, when can I expect the check from the government for the $13,000 we paid out of pocket?
And, since the government takes care of us 47 percent, does that mean the government will send our insurance company a reimbursement for what they paid out, approximately $385,000 to save my life?
I am not sharing my story for sympathy; I am sharing it to make a point. Romney is so far "out there" and not in touch with reality. The 47 percent Romney dismissed as basically free-loaders are educated, intelligent Americans, who go to work everyday and try to live the American dream. We do not want a leader who thinks we are all looking for government hand-outs.
We want our "fair" share like you are fighting for the fair share for the wealthy. Unfortunately you must not be able to do the arithmetic because some how the middle class will get screwed using your equations.
