This past Friday, I saw the first broadcast commercial for our Congressman, Tom Marino. It was a very slickly produced ad, but did not give us a lot of information on what Rep. Marino has done for his two years in office. Why has he done nothing to correct the Wall Street deregulation that allowed the 2008 Great Recession? Markets and banks need to be regulated to protect the average citizen, your constituents, from predatory lending, accounting manipulation and fraud? I know of what I speak. My father was a longtime local banker.
What policies has he voted for, or co-sponsored, to create new jobs in this country? That was his platform when he ran two years ago. Please don't mention the gas industry. The companies were here long before he was elected.
One of his first acts as our Congressman was to Co-Sponsor H.R. 3; an anti-abortion bill. This is the Bill that defined 'legitimate rape'. As a co-sponsor, he can't plead ignorance on that vote. A college-aged woman drugged, made unconscious and raped is not 'legitimate rape'. It was not forced. Really? Stating that he is pro-life is not enough. An explanation of this vote is needed, by all of us, women and men.
