The Akin critique

October 23, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

It's easy to see why Todd Akin is on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. He knows more about women's bodies than Ron Jeremy.

Akin revealed in a statement last week that women who are not pregnant are getting abortions. My first thought was, "How can someone who doesn't have something get that something taken away from her?" My second thought was, "Why would someone who objects to the termination of a fetus complain when a woman gets an abortion that doesn't involve the termination of a fetus?"

This kind of deep thinking on the part of conservatives is why we need people with Todd Akin's extensive knowledge of female anatomy on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Without him there, the committee would be wasting its time on things that mattered.
