David W. Guthrie Sr., 62, of Harrisburg, Pa., passed away Oct. 14, 2012, at Hershey Medical Center. Born June 17, 1950, he was the son of the late Dolores M. (Brooks) Stroupe and William E. Guthrie. Along with is parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Charley E. Guthrie.
David was a graduate of Williamsport High School and a USMC veteran serving as a 7041 Aviation Operations Man in the 2d MAW, MCS. He was also the co-founder of Loaves of Love Food Pantry based at Harris Street United Methodist Church. David received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Loaves of Love because of his excellent service to the community.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Harris Street United Methodist Church, 250 Harris St., Harrisburg, PA 17102. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loaves of Love. Arrangements by Auer Cremation Services of PA, Inc.
