A former employee at the Susquehanna Transit Co. bus ticket office, 11 W. Church St., who stole more than $17,000 from the business was sentenced to five years of probation in Lycoming County court Monday by Judge Marc F. Lovecchio.
Chantel Woods, 34, who listed an address of 1148 Market St., according to court records, took the money between August 2011 and January 2012, police said.
After bus ticket sales, Woods voided transactions and pocketed the cash, according to Agent Ronald Bachman, of the Williamsport Bureau of Police. Although the entries were erased from the computer system, buyers still were able to use the tickets.
She was charged and sentenced on felony theft charges of failing to make required disposition of funds.
Lovecchio's sentence makes Woods eligible for an early release from probation after three years. He also sentenced the woman to serve 50 hours of community service and pay full restitution.
