During a recent board meeting, the Friends of the James V. Brown Library heard the book sale profit report, set dates to recognize volunteers and the annual membership meeting, and approved the dates for the spring book sale.
The fall book sale raised more than $6,000. The funds will be used to support numerous programs and to buy books and media.
The spring sale will again be held April 25 to 27 at the Pine Street United Methodist Church.
Volunteers will be recognized and thanked at a catered tea to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Lowry Room of the Welch Family Wing.
Awards will be given to the Volunteer of the Year and the Carile Brown Award winner will be named.
This year, the Volunteer of the Year is Betsy Madsen and the Carile Brown Award will be shared by longtime board members and indefatigable library boosters Nancy Lady and Maria Gustafson.
The annual meeting will be held at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 4 with a light meal. Reports of all standing committees are given and new board members and officers are elected.
New board members to be presented are Mary Beth Kibbe, Ardythe Cross and David Dahl. New officers for election are Linda Schramm, president; Greg Thomas, vice president; Mark Noe, secretary; and David Wright, treasurer.
Special recognition given to two longtime board members who are retiring, Margie Shaw and Maria Gustafson.
