Richard "Dick" Gordon Carey, 66, of Blossburg, entered heaven on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa., surrounded by his family.
Born on Jan. 14, 1946, in Blossburg, he was the son of Glenn and Dorothy Carey. He was retired from the Southern Tioga School District. His favorite past times were spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, camping and hunting.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette (Naylor) Carey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Matt Harold, Pam and Andy Chamberlain; and son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Chrissy Carey. There are eight grandchildren, Brittany, Matthew, Faith, and Jett Harold, Scott, Caitlin and Andrea Chamberlain, and Isaac Staats. He is survived by his five sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Marlin Cohick, Peggy and J.B. Davis, Carol and Reid Chamberlain, Karen and Merv Harbold, Glenda and Chet Sherant; sister, Darlene Peffer; and sister-in-law, Shirley Carey; his mother-in-law, Marian Lindquist; by his in-laws, Richard and Susan Naylor, Garry and Carol Naylor, and Susan and Walter Morgan.
He was predeceased by parents; his brother, Joe Carey; sisters, Lois Wandell and Deborah Herlocker; and his father-in-law, Robert Lindquist.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Freeberg Funeral Home in Blossburg and on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from noon to 1 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Adam Pereira. Flowers will be provided by the family. Contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Blossburg, Pa.
