Mary R. Swisher, 94, of Unityville, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the Williamsport Home.
Born Dec. 6, 1917, in Strawberryridge, she was a daughter of the late Sanford and Clara Welliver Mordan. Her husband of 45 years, Thomas L. Swisher, preceded her in death on July 18, 1983.
Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, puzzles, crocheting, quilting and watching game shows. She also loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Carl L. Swisher of Unityville; two daughters, Shirley A. Kishbaugh of Unityville and Donna M. (Jay) Good of Watsontown; a sister, Jean (Chancy) Robbins of Unityville; four grandchildren, Heather Grossnickle, Angela Johnson, Amos Good and Melody Cornish; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by five sisters, Hilda Guisewhite, Zoe Umpstead, Lila Peterman, Beatrice Allen and Emily Bomboy; and three brothers, Larue, Lloyd Sr. and Monroe Mordan.
Private funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Dan Langan officiating. Burial followed in Franklin "Stone Heap" Cemetery, Unityville.
