Woman allegedly takes mother’s checks

MANSFIELD - Samantha D. Strange, 26, of 1197 Westgate Road, was charged by state police for allegedly taking blank checks from her mother's checkbook and forging her name on them to cash them at First Citizens Bank between Nov. 15 and Dec. 16, 2008, police said.

Strange was charged with forgery and theft by deception for allegedly taking and forging five checks from Karen Strange's checkbook and cashing them for $555.

She waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail. Her county court arraignment was set for Nov. 5.
