WELLSBORO - Cody L. Gower, 18, of 403 Troy St., Canton, was charged by the state Game Commission for allegedly killing eight deer out of season at various locations in Liberty Township and corruption of minors for allegedly encouraging a 13-year-old to unlawfully use a firearm in the commission of various wildlife crimes, including possessing a loaded firearm in a vehicle, hunting from a vehicle and spotlighting big game while in possession of a firearm.
According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office, Game Commission Officer Rodney Mee said Gower also was charged with criminal conspiracy, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia - a pot pipe.
Officials said he killed or assisted in the killing of no less than eight deer on five occasions during the months of June, July, August and September.
He waived his Tuesday preliminary hearing and his county court date was set for Wednesday.
