October 26, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

JERSEY SHORE - District Judge Jerry C. Lepley ruled there was sufficient evidence to hold Charles Matthew Shaffer, 35, of 79 Ivy Lane, Linden, on state police charges of attempted rape, attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault as well as additional offenses of unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault and harassment.

The last four charges were amended to the original complaint, police said. All the charges stem from Shaffer allegedly assaulting a woman in Piatt Township in mid-September. He remains jailed in lieu $50,000 bail.

In a second case, Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police dropped a charge of failure to register a current address against Jerry E. Plieseis, 29, a convicted sex offender from Grassflat. The charge stemmed from Plieseis allegedly failed to register his current address, which was listed in court papers at 690 S. Broad St., police said.
