Gun jeopardy

October 27, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

I was surprised that the president made such a blatantly false statement during his second debate with Gov. Romney. He said he supports the Second Amendment!

Congressional records reveal that he was one of the most avid anti-gun advocates during his tenure there: Beginning in 1996, he supported a ban on the manufacture, sales, or ownership of all handguns. Subsequently, he serially endorsed similar legislative actions in 1999, 2003, twice in 2004 -- the second time to prosecute victims who use guns for self-defense in their own homes, twice again in 2005, once to ban common rifle ammunition.

Also, in 2005 and 2006 he voted to reject pro-Second Amendment court Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito. Finally, in 2008, he supported the Washington, DC ban on guns in the home for self-defense.

I believe that if President Obama is re-elected, he will initiate efforts to systematically remove all guns from private ownership in America. Will he implement a Presidential Executive Order to force registration of all firearms? Following a period of time, will he then declare that private ownership constitutes a national threat, and then attempt to have all firearms confiscated as was done in Germany in the 1930's? Simultaneously, he will add more anti-gun zealots to the Supreme Court bench, overturning the Second Amendment and achieving his goal.

Recall his attempt to surreptitiously say to the Soviet diplomat that: "I'll have more flexibility after the election."

If you are a gun owner or hunter, you may want to think about this.
