As a former Republican and someone who privately identifies as a somewhat conservative Democrat under the age of 30, I've tried hard to bite my tongue on revealing any kind of specific feelings on the race for state Representative in the 83rd district. I have known both candidates for several years now including their own wonderful, caring and down-to-earth families. The fact of the matter is that both Rick Mirabito and Harry Rogers are well-intentioned men who care about our state and the direction it's heading in.
However, having known both men I can say with all honesty that I believe Rick Mirabito is the best man with the right direction to continue representing both you and me in Harrisburg for the next two years.
I felt compelled to write after my father received two mailers from the Republican Party on behalf of Harry. One was a very disappointing, partisan letter from Senator Yaw and Rep. Everett even though they hardly work with Mirabito out of their own choice; and another claiming Harry will cut "wasteful government spending" and will get "our economy back on track." Does this sound familiar to anyone? It should because, like clockwork, we hear it every two-four years from most candidates. For us to believe the garbage these people in Harrisburg are putting out would be an insult to our own intelligence.
Who has really been there for us in sincerity? Who has been standing up for our values rather than just talking about them? Rick Mirabito. I know that Rick Mirabito will stand for education and with us in rural Pennsylvania. Why? Because he's been doing it!
