Roberta S. "Bobbie" Younkin, 64, of 273 Davidson Road, Jersey Shore, entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 24, 2012, at the Lewisburg Evangelical Community Hospital Emergency Room following surgery.
Born Nov. 10, 1947, in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of the late Cleon and Cora (Garnhart) Shuman, and she also was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Shuman, sister, Anna Shuman, and beloved twin sister, Rebecca Gromley.
Bobbie was a graduate of Jersey Shore Area High School in 1968 and obtained a nursing degree from Williamsport Area Community College. She was a kindhearted and compassionate LPN who served the community for many years at the Divine Providence Hospital, Jersey Shore Hospital, Leader Nursing Home in Jersey Shore, and private duty.
On March 20, 1976, she married her soulmate, Gene Younkin, at the First Baptist Church in Jersey Shore, and they have celebrated 36 years of a blessed marriage.
She was a loving and devoted mother of two sons, Edward (fiancee Kathy Shipman) of Rauchtown, and Kristifier (Malissa) of South Williamsport.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Barbara (Wayne) Feerrar of Avis and Carol (Howard) Wool of Oval. She will be dearly missed by sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Bobbie enjoyed reading, traveling; especially to Maine, and had a great love for her animals. She was a member of the Antes Fort United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a long time member of TOPS No. 1188 of Williamsport. Most of all, she will be forever remembered for her great love of children and spending time with her family.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Antes Fort United Methodist Church, 19 Fourth St., Antes Fort. The funeral service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Antes Fort United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Weibley officiating. Burial will follow at Tomb's Run Cemetery in Pine Creek Valley. Arrangements being handled by Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
