Ryan James Pompeo, 28, son of Kirk M. and Lynn A. (Sortman) Pompeo, formerly of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, in Louisville, Ky., where his family currently resides. Ryan passed peacefully with his family by his side, after a hard fought battle against a liver illness.
Ryan was born and raised in Harrisburg, Pa. He graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 2003. Ryan was the true meaning of an avid sports fan. He loved the Baltimore Ravens, Penn State football and Duke basketball. But he wasn't just a fan, he also enjoyed playing basketball and soccer. And he enjoyed music. But more than anything, Ryan loved being a brother and uncle. He loved every chance he got to spend with his sister and nephew.
Ryan is preceded in death by his grandfather, Albert Pompeo. He is survived by his loving parents; sister, Audrey Pompeo; nephew, Alexander Newton; grandmother, Genny Pompeo; grandparents, Gene and Joan Sortman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins; and last but not least his best friend and companion his dog, Quinton.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701. Condolences may be sent to the American Liver Foundation at www.liverfoundation.org.
Ryan will always be remembered as a free spirited, funny and good hearted young man. He is loved and will be missed dearly.
