WELLSBORO - Two members of a local family remain hospitalized following a pedestrian and vehicle collision Saturday night.
According to borough police, Hershel and Marcia Holsomback, of Middlebury Center, were trick-or- treating with their two daughters, Haley, 5, and Gracie, 4, when they crossed the road on West Avenue near the intersection with Berwert Street around 7 p.m. during the borough's trick or treating hours for Halloween.
It is the borough's custom to allow trick-or-treating on the Saturday night closest to Halloween each year.
As they crossed the street, police said, they were struck by a vehicle driven by Rachel Linscott, 50, of the borough, who said she did not see the family.
"There were so many people milling around, she said she just didn't see them," police Chief Jim Bodine said.
The incident is under investigation, he added.
Marcia Holsomback was listed in serious condition and her daughter, Haley, in fair condition Monday according to hospital public relations personnel.
Hershel Holsomback and daughter, Gracie, were treated and released from Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital over the weekend, Bodine said.
