Marcille F. Shures

Marcille F. Shures, 71, of 919 Tucker St., Williamsport, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 30, 2012, at the Gatehouse after a short illness.

She was born April 21, 1941, in Shunk, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Rev. Lynn and Esther (Dixon) Kilmer, formerly of Canton.

Marcille was a 1959 graduate of Canton High School and a 1965 graduate of Practical Bible Training School in Johnson City, N.Y.

She spent her years as a Sunday School teacher and working with the Junior church.

In 2008, she retired as a secretary at the Westerly Hills Baptist Church in Fort Mill, S.C.

Marcille enjoyed singing in the church as a soloist.

She taught piano for many years and was an accomplished player of the piano, organ and autoharp.

Marcille is survived by her beloved husband, Alan R. Shures, of 47 years; four sisters, Harriett Campbell and Charlotte Marong, both of Corning, N.Y., Elouise (Lewis) Hults of Beaver Dams, N.Y., and Joylene Speary of Williamsport.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the Trinity Gospel Church, 1010 Elmira St., Williamsport, with Rev. Joel Henderson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Gospel Church.

Arrangements are being handled by the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.
