A 25-year-old Jersey Shore man has been charged with breaking into his uncle's mobile home, striking him with a claw hammer and fleeing with the man's debit card, state police said.
Patrick Gene Willits, jailed in the Centre County Prison on a probation violation, attacked his uncle, Thomas Willits, at 194 Harvest Moon Park in Woodward Township on April 1, police said.
He later used the victim's debit card to withdraw $1,296 from his account, police alleged.
The nephew was arraigned Thursday morning before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley on charges of aggravated and simple assault, robbery, burglary, access device fraud, theft, receiving stolen property and false reports. The last charge stems from Willits making a false complaint to police about being struck in the head by another man. He was placed in County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
