Williamsport Sun-Gazette

WELLSBORO - John Weddleton Jr., 20, of 161 Moore Road, Mansfield, was charged by borough police with theft, criminal mischief, and unsworn falsification to authorities, after he allegedly damaged weapons at 18 Pearl St., Apt. A, on Aug. 25.

According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office, surveillance video revealed he damaged four of seven guns owned by the resident, by tossing or throwing them after removing, from the gun safe with a pair of pliers.

Weddleton claimed he foiled a burglary in process when he went in to pick up beer after receiving permission to do so, police said. The damages to the guns and safe totaled $745.

He was issued a summons for a preliminary hearing Nov. 27.
