Francis A. Harris, 90, of Williamsport, died on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Jersey Shore Hospital. His wife the former Dorothy McCloskey died in 1997.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1922, in Lock Haven and was the son of Harry and Mary Louise Adams Harris.
Francis was a graduate of Lock Haven High School. He retired in 1984 from PPL as a meter reader. He was a member of Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church. Francis was a 32 Degree Mason, Lodge 707, past Grand Master, member of the Grotto, and Dallas Shriners. He was also past president of the Telephone Pioneers, PPL Retirees Association, Boy Scout Master with various troops and earned an Order of the Arrow, past president of Lock Haven Exchange Club, past member of the Elks, member of the local Chesapeake Bay Water Testing. He was an avid Penn State fan. In his younger days he played baseball and softball.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Harris, Robert Harris and three sisters, Betty Nestlerode, Lois Walizer, and Sarah Haagen. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Kaufman Funeral Home, 2102 Northway Road, Williamsport, on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. Following cremation, a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, in Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church, 1301 Clayton Ave., Williamsport, with the Rev. Mike Swimley officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
