James Leslie Dunlap, 79, of Frederick County, Va., died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Dunlap was born in 1933, in Peoria, Ill., the son of the late Clarence and Eleanor Dunlap. He was a graduate of Dunlap High School, Dunlap, Ill. James was a Veteran having served with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Dunlap worked for the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 1988. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where he was an active member of The Legion of Mary, Daily Mass Group, Sacred Heart Prayer Group as well as the Tuesday evening Novena Group.
He married Lorena Davis on April 27, 1957, in Middletown, Pa.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Madeline Dunlap of Williamsport, Pa.; son, Michael Dunlap and wife, Ann, of Florissant, Fla.; one grandchild; five sisters, Janice Gilles and husband, David and Maribel Draper, all of Dunlap, Ill., Lorraine Schaefer and husband, James, of Bloomington, Ill., Rose Buzon and husband, Moises, of Cleveland, Ohio, Theresa Day and husband, Larry, of Springfield, Mo.; and one brother, Joseph Dunlap and wife, Peg, of Peoria, Ill.
He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Dunlap.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
