MILL HALL - Senior night is special and it's a great atmosphere filled with emotion, but sometimes theres a little too much. When this occurs the home team tends get off to a slow start.
And Friday night, well, the Wildcats had no trouble getting off blocks.
There was no hangover from the pre-game senior night festivities, and Central Mountain had no trouble with Jersey Shore in 63-33 victory.
"I thought the seniors did a heck of a job in their last home game," CM head coach Vinnie Kishbaugh said. "We knew we had a couple guys going into the that needed some yardage to break some records and we wanted them to get those records on senior night. Renninger ended up breaking the all-time receiving record and Von ended up with enough yards to have a 1,000 yards rushing and passing. I'm proud of the way all these guys played tonight."
The Bulldogs have had a tough season to this point and there was a chance the game was going to get out of control, but nobody thought this would happen in the first quarter.
Kishbaugh's Wildcats scored four touchdowns in the first quarter of last night's game. Scoring 28 points in under 12 minutes of play is impressive on its own, but it was the way CM racked up those points that was entertaining to see.
On the first play of the game the Von Walker-Cole Renninger connection got clicking. Only 15 seconds in, Walker found Renninger on a beautiful in stride 63-yard touchdown pass for the fist score of the game. After stopping Shore, the 'Cats followed up their quick scoring drive with a ground a pound series of plays, ending with one-yard rush TD by Blaze Buckwalter.
