The Williamsport Outlaws earned their first win this season, 3-2 Friday night over the Dayton Demonz at Bowman Field after trailing 2-0 in the second period.
Dayton hopped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Ty Ariss beat Chris Whitley at 2:06 in the first quarter to capitalize on a slow start by the Outlaws.
The Demonz used a Whitley turnover that converted into a wrap-around-goal by Jesse Felton for a 2-0 lead early in the second period. That was the last goal that Whitley allowed.

Matt Smyth scored in his fourth straight game when he scored on the power play to cut it to a 2-1 deficit at the 8:17 mark of the second period. Rob Sich added the tying goal on a lose puck in front at the 13:04 mark of the period.
Play got physical near the end of the second period, but nothing boiled over .
The Outlaws suffered a scare off the opening faceoff of the third period, when Dayton won the faceoff turned it into a breakaway, but Whitley prevented a score. The Outlaws did not surrender a good offensive look to Dayton for the remainder of the game.
Rob Sich gave the Outlaws the lead for good with a turn-around rocket that beat Gerry Festa at the 4:56 mark.
The Outlaws would hold off a late surge from the Demonz to secure their first win of the season.
Williamsport outshot Dayton 41-39. The Outlaws travel to Cape Cod tonight.
