Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past week:
County
Lycoming County commissioners formally adopted an emergency disaster declaration that would allow eligible federal funding for cleanup and restoration due to Hurricane Sandy. Commissioners also voted to return $2.2 million in Clean Renewable Energy Bond proceeds that were scheduled to be used for a methane gas-to energy project at the county landfill. The funding will be returned because the county awarded PPL Renewable Energy a contract for the project instead of doing it itself. Voting in favor of both measures were Jeff C. Wheeland and Ernie Larson. Tony Mussare was absent.
Municipal
City Council voted 7-0 to approve amending a contract for purchase of real estate valued at $250,000 at Mulberry Street and Via Bella to build a 40-unit senior housing complex on. Voting in favor were Council President Bill Hall, Bonnie Katz, Liz Miele, Jonathan Williamson, Randall J. Allison, Don Noviello, and N. Clifford "Skip" Smith. Council voted 6-1 to approve a conditional use for that property. The lone vote against it was Hall.
Federal
The Senate and House were out of session.
