During a five-day period beginning on Oct. 27, the Lycoming County DUI Task Force charged eight motorists with driving under the influence of alcohol and one with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, according to William Solomon, task force coordinator.
Those charged were stopped by officers conducting "roving patrols" throughout the county, Solomon said. During the holiday season the task force will be conducting regular patrols and checkpoints.
"Thanksgiving weekend is the busiest time of the year for DUI-related crashes and arrests," he said.
