Cycling season ruined

November 9, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

I was concerned by the decision of the Loyalsock Township Supervisors in May to close down the bicycle path in the eastern end of the municipality, that it would close the path for the entire cycling season.

My fears were confirmed because as of recently the path is still closed by construction equipment. In fact, at different periods the path was closed between the Faxon entrance west to Market Street.

I would hazard a guess that had I placed a hole in the street in front of my house and placed barricades for the same period I would have made several trips to the magistrate to pay my fines. Isn't it amazing that government entities do what ever they want, whenever they want with no consequences?

It might not seem like a big deal but I've seen many bicyclists riding down the Golden Strip and East Third Street because of the supervisors lack of advanced planning! As anyone who travels this road, they will readily attest to the amount of traffic on this road creating a very dangerous situation!

Thanks, supervisors, for ruining another cycling season!
