Swift Kennedy & Associates, specializing in group employee benefits, individual and family medical and senior health care plans, has opened an office in Williamsport.

Jerry Calistri, president, explained his business acts as a broker and consultant for people and employers looking to purchase health care plans.

Swift Kennedy, he said, deals with many health care carriers in the area, offering medical, dental and vision coverage.

"This is our sixth office," Calistri said. "We also have offices in DuBois, State College, Wilkes-Barre, Allentown and Indiana."

Calistri said the decision to open an office in Williamsport is ideal, given its existing customer base in the area.

"With some clients here, it made sense to have a local presence," he said.

Four people will eventually work out of the downtown Williamsport office located on the second floor of the Executive Plaza, 330 Pine St.

The office opened Oct. 1.

Calistri said his work poses various challenges, including helping clients find the right health care coverage with respect to the federal Affordable Care Act.

"Many customers are confused about the new health care regulations," he said. "We help."

Indeed, it's a difficult process to navigate given the rapid change that is occurring.

"We are here to help guide and educate clients," said benefits consultant Wendy Topolski. "Because we truly care about our business."

Calistri said what sets his business apart from competitors is its specialization in health care coverage, as well as its ability to use technology with its online services.

"A lot of our competition doesn't do that," he added.

Calistri, a native of Lycoming County, is happy that the business is now here.

He serves as local president of the National Association of Health Underwriters.

"We work with employers and legislators on health insurance and make sure what is passed is offered," he said.

"We work with large employers and small businesses," he said.
