of the month
Keith Pittinger, transportation construction inspector supervisor, has been named the state Department of Transportation district office employee of the month for November 2012.
Following his 2011 promotion to a supervisor position in the district materials unit, Pittinger, a news release said, quickly assimilated the responsibilities of his new position and has done a very good job. He is dedicated to his new position and displays a great deal of enthusiasm.
Pittinger, according to the news release, is able to answer most material questions without any assistance from his supervisors. He does well at handling all his duties involving the material producers within his geographical area, which is primarily south of Interstate 180 and east of Montoursville. These sources include 14 aggregate producers, six concrete producers and six hot-mixed asphalt producers. He has handled all materials issues with his producers with quick and positive solutions which were agreeable to both the producers and PennDOT.
Pittinger always communicates with all of his subordinates in a timely manner.
He also readily steps in to inspect material at a producer's location when his inspectors are assigned to other locations.
Pittinger, a 15-year PennDOT employee, lives in Montoursville with his wife Brenda. They have two daughters, Sara and Nicole.

The Hartman Group would announces the hiring of Forrest Herr for the position of employee benefits consultant. Herr specializes in working with groups to service their employee benefits, as well as understand implications of different financing strategies, plan design alternatives, and "tie in" wellness programs.
Herr joins The Hartman Group after working in the industry for five years as an account executive for a national health insurance company. He is a graduate of Lock Haven University with a bachelors of science in environmental biology.
Hartman is a regional commercial insurance, employee benefits, and financial services firm operating out of offices in Williamsport, State College, and Duncannon.

vice president
First National Bank of Pennsylvania, the largest subsidiary of F.N.B. Corp., has announced the recent promotion of Diane Paulukinas, market manager, to vice president. In this role, Paulukinas provides oversight of sales and operations for 13 branches located in Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Snyder, Union and York counties. She reports to Lloyd Lamm, regional banking executive for the bank's 15-county capital region.
Paulukinas has 17 years of banking experience. Prior to her role as market manager, she served as branch manager of First National Bank's Selinsgrove Office. Previously, she served as operations manager for Omega Bank, a predecessor of First National Bank in Selinsgrove. She was also a branch manager for Sun Bank offices in both Sunbury and Selinsgrove.
A resident of Shamokin, Paulukinas graduated from the Central Atlantic School of Banking and Leadership Susquehanna Valley. She is a member of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Brush Valley Chamber of Commerce, and she volunteers for the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way.

Erie Materials, a regional distributor of building materials, has made several appointments to its sales and service staffs.
Matt Milbrand has joined Erie Materials' Williamsport branch as an inside sales representative. He has worked in management and customer service roles in various industries.
Frank Palumbo has been promoted to service technician. He has been with Erie Materials in Scranton for more than seven years as a warehouse employee and non-commercial driver.
Neal Bryden has been appointed as general contracting/architectural representative. Bryden will serve customers in the Syracuse, Watertown, Utica and Auburn areas. Bryden most recently served as a territory manager for Erie's Watertown branch. During his 19 years with Erie Materials, he has also served as warehouse employee, delivery specialist, inside sales representative and operations manager.
Chris Engle will be serving the general contracting/architectural department by creating job submittals, qualifying bid solicitations, project follow up and product coordination. Engle has been with Erie Materials for eight years. He has served as a General contracting and architectural representative, territory manager and inside sales representative.
Rose Townsend has been named as Erie's vice president of technology. Townsend has been the company's director of information technology since 1989. She is responsible for all of the company's information systems and the evaluation and adoption of any new technology.
Erie Materials was established in 1973. It distributes building materials for residential and commercial exteriors, such as roofing, siding, windows, doors, decking, manufactured stone veneer and gutters. It is based in Syracuse, N.Y.

MUNCY - Chris Stevenson was recently recognized as the September Employee of the Month at Construction Specialties, Inc. here.
Recently, Construction Specialties experienced a fire in the compression room at its Muncy plant.
Without hesitation, Stevenson grabbed a fire extinguisher and headed to put out the flames. Thanks to his bravery and self-sacrifice, the fire was quickly extinguished and operations were back in full swing with minimal delay, the company said.
