Robert A. Strouse, 78, of County Line Road, Turbotville, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, Nov. 12, 2012.
Born March 16, 1934, in Strawberry Ridge, Montour County, he was the son of the late Dorrance E. and Helen M. (Love) Strouse. He was married to the former Miriam C. Hemrick on Nov. 27, 1953, and they would have celebrated 59 years of marriage later this month.
He was a 1952 graduate of Turbotville High School and attended the former Williamsport Area Community College.

A certified electrician, he retired from North Star Steel, formerly Milton Manufacturing, where he had worked 43 years. Following retirement, he worked with his son at Williamsport Electric and was always helping out family and friends with electrical work.
He was the financial secretary for the Local Steel Workers Union for 17 years and earlier in life was a member of the Milton Moose and Eagles Lodges.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Turbotville, for over 50 years, having served two terms as president of the church council.
Robert enjoyed playing his guitar and western square dancing with his wife for many years.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas A. and Lisa Strouse, Montgomery and David M. and Ellen Strouse, Strick Road, Danville; a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie S. and Art Magee of Pompton Plains, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel, Rebecca, Alaina, and Adam Strouse and Kayla and Ryan Magee; and a sister, Shirley Worthington of rural Milton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Temple and three brothers, Arthur, Leon and Archie Strouse.
Friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 10275 Route 44, Turbotville, where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dan May, his pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to his church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
