Man allegedly stabbed dog

November 15, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

WELLSBORO - Edward L. Painter III, 33, of 1916 Round Top Road, was charged by the Pennsylvania SPCA with cruelty to animals after police received a call from the Wellsboro Animal Hospital about a dog that had been found Oct. 14 at the intersection of Round Hill Road and had been stabbed several times.

The dog was traced to its owner, Painter, who said he was willing to surrender the dog to the SPCA.

Police said he got into an argument with Tammy Button concerning their dogs over their pending eviction Oct. 13 and took a female dog called Skybird out of the home and stabbed it with a knife, stating he wanted to get rid of it.

The dog was disfigured by the attack. Painter was issued a summons to appear at a Dec. 11 preliminary hearing.
