WELLSBORO - Jody L. Bartlett, 44, of 124 Morris St., Apt. 1, Blossburg, was charged by Gaines Township police with theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief after he allegedly took advantage of a family who were letting him stay at their home.
According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office, police received a complaint July 19 from Scott and Julie Lane, of 18 Genevia St. in Gaines, where Bartlett had been staying.
He allegedly used the couple's computer to sell an RPK -74 gun kit to Jon A. Muntz, of Dunkirk, N.Y., for $514, and then failed to deliver the kit to him.
He also allegedly took 15 gallons of fuel belonging to Scott and Randy Lane and used a torch to heat a vehicle windshield to remove a Pennsylvania inspection certificate from a pickup truck owned by the Lanes, causing cracking and blistering to the windshield.
He was issued a summons to appear at a Dec. 4 preliminary hearing.
