The Bucknell women's basketball team dropped its home opener on Wednesday night to St. Francis (Pa.), 62-54.
The Red Flash (2-0) ended the game on a 17-7 run to secure the eight-point victory.
Alli Williams led St. Francis with 22 points and 19 rebounds. Lindsay Horbatuck had 15 rebounds and Shelby Romine 12 points for the Bison (0-2).
"We did a nice job of handling their pressure early, but I thought we had some empty possessions because we took some quick shots," Bucknell coach Aaron Roussell said after the game. "I think we really struggled to finish tonight across the board. If we don't get outworked today, it's a different result."
Alex Bentley scored 21 points and Maggie Lucas added 18 to help No. 9 Penn State beat No. 16 Texas A&M 63-58 on Wednesday night.
Trailing 56-51 with 6:24 left, Penn State (2-0) closed the game with a 12-2 spurt.
Junior center Kelsey Bone led the Aggies with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
In college swimming, the Lycoming men defeated Misericordia for the first time in five years after a 105-100 victory.
On the women's side, the Warriors posted a win in both relays, but Misericordia posted seven individual wins to edge the Warriors, 109-96.
